Too early

    Hiya guys!

Just launched a small site today, going for a fairly easy keyword, a hotel themed site.

I'm thinking its going to look really really bad if I go full steam and submit to all the directories under the sun today and go hunting for links and blog comments.

Does anybody have any pointers on how fast is too fast?, should I just do a little bit every evening for a bit? - or is there no harm in a fiery start and then maintaining a constant level of link building?

    Any thoughts most welcome :)

If it's a brand new site, I'd say 10 links a day is safe. You have to remember that some pages will not even be indexed, and also each webpage will be crawled at different intervals - so your backlink could be indexed the same day, or even a few weeks later. If your site isn't indexed in Google yet, stick with 10-15 a day max. Once it's been indexed for a month or so, you can probably safely start building 20, 40, and 50 per day accordingly.
