Tony Snow (White House press secretary) Stepping Down

Discussion in 'Politics & Religion' started by tarponkeith, Aug 17, 2007.

    Story on CNN: http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/08/17/whitehouse.snow/index.html

It seems that his $168,000 per year salary isn't enough; he's blaming "financial reasons" for his departure...

Is anyone going to miss Tony Snow?

I still can't believe he defended the Iraqi parliament taking a month off...
    http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/07/20070713-5.html

So the Iraqi parliament doesn't have to sit in 80 degree air-conditioned buildings, but our troops do have to be in the 115 degree heat outside protecting them? Jeez... I'll never get over that...

nice...way to talk about someone who has cancer...and he said that he will eventually step down...nothing is immediate. Actually, if I remember reading correctly, his words were "I'm going to stay as long as possible." or something to the effect.

Yes, not immediate, the article says "as early as next month"..

And as for the cancer comment... Lots of people have had cancer... Someone very close to me had melanoma, and I still give him a hard time about stuff... From what I've seen, those with cancer don't want any special treatment...

Tony Snow's job is to lie. Every day. No press secretary who took the job with anything but physical force deserves any respect or well-wishes.

He is the press secretary. If you don't believe that the job description itself makes anyone who holds that position a liar then you are even more partisan and blindly biased then I thought.

Careful. You do not want to get on the wrong side of the "crazy gang." :D

Remember that Bush is great, Cheney is a hero, Israel is persecuted, the Iraq war is going really well, there is definately not a CFR meeting going on in Chateau Montebello, Canada on the 20th and 21st August to discuss the long planned North American Union, the US economy is booming, the dollar is really strong etc. etc. etc.

all I am doing is asking for proof to back up their claim that he is a liar...how can you claim that if you have no proof?

    http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/03/20070315-4.html

    then in june:

lets go with the actual quote, and not just part of it...

If you look at the entire exchange, what Snow is having to dispute involves what had been said at the beginning of the press briefing...not in reference to the previous statements said in other briefings....nice try, but you need to do something better....:D furthermore, how many did clinton fire for "performance reasons"? oh yeah, ALL OF THEM...and nothing was ever said....

Just can't admit it, can you? Too much pride? You asked for an example, and I gave it to you, he clearly says "That is something -- we have never said that."...

Why change the topic? The debate isn't over whether the president can fire them or not, it's whether or not the firings were politically motivated...

you are pulling individual quotes rather than looking at the briefing as a whole!!! I cannot help you with this...if you hate Snow that much (along with the Bush admin) that you have to cut and paste in order for things to fit your agenda, then there is nothing that any of us can do for you...
