There is a documentary on the BBC 2 coming tonight that is about Google. For the people that can recieve BBC2 it might be interesting to see this show and i just wanted to share this with you guys. The time of the start of the docu in Holland is 20.00 so i guess in The U.K. that would be 19.00. Maybe interesting...maybe bullocks.
The world according to google: No one should able to find my house, unless, at least 1 other house has a sidewalk going towards my house and its made of the proper meterial. People will be able to find my house more easily, if houses from different neighborhoods also have sidewalks going towards my house and they are all made of the proper material. However, If I start building sidewalks from my house to houses that are deemed "bad houses" (such as crack houses, brothels, or casinos), then my house can no longer be found and I can never get another visitor. Ever. A sidewalk to my house from a mall or a government building will make my house easily findable, even if people really aren't looking for my house at all.
Yes, that is another one: If people are having a hard time finding your house, you can put ads on other people's sidewalks and ask for visitors to come to your house. But, most of these visitors really only want to press their face against the window and look, but not really visit, so unless you advertise on a very specific sidewalk, this can cost a ton of money, just to get someone to visit you
LOL sorry guys, i read it wrong it's not tonight but it's friday january 20th. O Well There is enough time for other people to see this then.
it is also available online to watch at the bbc "Money Programme" website see http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4598090.stm extra interviews also near the bottom of the page to watch
I did not realize that they keep a record of every search and everything done on google in a way that they allocate every computer an id number.... according to that program. I missed the first half so will have to watch it online at the link i posted above.
And if you think that was scary they also have former employees from Intelligence Agencies working for them
If you think that is scary, then how about this! Google, Yahoo, @Home, Amazon, WebMD and a few other major companies have central information databases, that track all activities done on the site. If you lookup Michael Moritz, you notice that he has had a key role in these companies. Everything you do is monitored. The question is why and for who.
Funny you mention Amazon, i have read an article a litle while back...more a tutorial on how you could use all kinds of tools to determine if someone bought any suspicious books in your area. And the suspicious books or books in question that you want to target is what you decide to be listed. I'll see if i can remember where i noticed this.
