I myself have seen 9/11 as a wake up call that our country needed. We have so many enemies out there and the threats never seem to stop. Are we supposed to keep reasoning? When Bush Sr. left Saddam in power, wasn't that used a propaganda for Iraq's victory which has motivated many to keep up the battle against the United States?
I wished there was a different language than war to communicate in but I am not sure it would be understood in societies only used to tyranny, oppression and censorship.

OK guys just admit it, the Bush administration was embarrassed by Saddam because they let him live in 91 and he then gassed the Kurds.

Then he shot at our jets for years, sold oil on the black market and a lot of other things to make Bush Senior look bad.

When they "took power" in 2000 in a flawed election they started raising oil prices and decided to take the oil fields in advance of 9/11 and the result is what we have now, a war that has cost this nation and the world Trillions of dollars and is now ruining the economies of the world by high oil costs.

Sounds like a plan by the good folks from Houston to me.

I don't know if that would ever happen. Presumed guilty towards any republican is the norm for mik and AC. I am surprised that AC actually is not 100% backing mik in all of this.

I grew up in the area of Quaddafi. Remember the constant attacks?
    How did it stop?
    By diplomacy and reasoning? no
By Quaddafi coming to his senses? no

It stopped when Ronald Reagan decided that enough was enough and he went in there and bombed Lybia.
Yes, innocent people were killed. But I believe it prevented a lot more innocent people dying in the long run.

I think Bush Sr. made a mistake not taking Saddam out back then. He is nothing but a criminal who should have gone to trial back then. GW knew it and finished the job like Ronald Reagan would have done had he been in power in '91.

Bush was re-elected and Sharon was elected by the Israelis because people understand that you need someone who is willing to protect in a time of danger.

You can live in fear for a certain amount of time and then you should stand up and fight for your rights.
I cannot agree with the stand the European Union is taking. Their "peaceful demeanor" spells carelessness forward and backwards. I personally don't care if there were Weapons of Mass Destruction or not, either way Saddam should have been removed.
It therefor is secondary information I do not need to decide if it was a good move or not.

If you guys say Bush lied: yeah, I miss Clinton a lot ... he reminded me of our first president who just couldn't tell a lie

Not true, the country was having big Problems under Jimmy Carter and when Reagan was elected in a landslide it was good for the country as Iran released the hostages the day before Reagan took office Debunked.

Reagan was alright in his first term but I turned against him when he fired the Air Traffic Controllers, I thought that sucked and it proved to be a great threat to national security.

**The volume data shown above is from the Nasdaq and NYSE exchanges only. It does not include regional volume activity, which means that other daily volume quotes you see may be higher.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average logged another triple-digit fall today, closing the week at 10087.7, down a disturbing 191.3 points on the day and a thumping 361.1 on the week, a 3.46-percent decline. The intraday chart of the Dow is not a pretty sight. At 2:46 P.M. Ryan Detrick, one of our analysts here at Schaeffer's, predicted a late-afternoon sell, warning that "buyers seem to have left the building." Surely enough, the predication came true. The Nasdaq shed 38.5 points to end the day at another six-month low as a slew of negative news and 'sell fever' propelled the declines.

The June gold futures contracts managed to close with a 90-cent gain, finishing the session at $426.60 an ounce, the rebound due to weakness in the dollar. Oil futures closed at 50.25, down 88 cents, and analysts are sagely repeating, on a daily basis now, that high energy prices have preceded every economic slowdown since the demise of the dinosaurs. At last check (4 P.M. Eastern time) Treasury's were up significantly.

Our Today's Market features, which appear several time each day, have more detail on the day’s events.

    GE Up 0.7 Percent

Positive earnings from General Electric (GE) failed to inspire good feelings today. The mega-conglomerate reported a first-quarter profit of $4.04 billion, or 38 cents per share, compared to the Street's estimate of 37 cents per share. Revenue rose 19 percent to $39.8 billion, edging past the consensus estimate of $38 billion. GE managed to end the day 0.7 percent higher than it began.

    IBM Down 8.3 Percent

Lackluster earnings from IBM (IBM) last night hindered any rally attempts from the tech sector. The firm posted a first-quarter gain of $1.4 billion, or 85 cents per share, besting its gain of 79 cents per share for the same period a year ago. The Street had forecast a profit of 90 cents per share. Sales rose three percent to $22.9 billion, also missing the consensus forecast of $23.7 billion.

    Techs Tumble

Every tech stock that happens to be on my screen today shows red. Dell (DELL), which has clung stubbornly to support at 40 and then 38 since the middle of November, let go this week, slipping steadily toward the 35 level, the next obvious round-number safe haven. Everything else is down, from Microsoft (MSFT), which shows a 1.69-percent decline, Oracle (ORCL) which ended down 3.22 percent, and Apple Computer (AAPL) which lost 5.18 percent. Monday looks set to hold everyone's attention.

Just wait till we are at 10,700 or better in the next 30 to 60 days

Perfect timing to buy some stocks AC. Look at the positives. Buy low sell high, so right now is your oportunity, so take advantage if you can. (I know I can't at this time.)

Debunked investors are selling short the stocks based in the USA and the American dollar, so we could go down for quite a while because investors have no confidence because of the trade and budget deficits that we are running.

Bush has some real problems here, unless oil prices drop in a big way we are in deep trouble.

Oil will not come down if the dollar gets weaker because the producers will want more dollars as it gets weaker.

    Agreed.

I've often wondered (and I know I have asked this before) how do you steal an election?

To steal the election, it would have to mean that it was taken from someone else. That would also have to mean that someone else won the election, which was clearly not the case.

"Bush stole the election" is one of the more childish things I have encountered in my short time on the planet. It's so 4 year oldish. "but you started it... nah, nah nah nah nah..."

This too will pass. I mean, when was the last time you actually heard someone say "but 12 years of ..." I'm glad I do not have to listen to that childish crap anymore.

Anyway. Have a nice weekend. It's Y time, then Golf, then bike time. What a beautiful day.

sitetutor, you continue to amaze me.

Yup, your mind is made up, and no amount of knowledge will changew it.
You still continue this irrational line of reasoning assuming there is only one solution to these problems, and that is war.
It doesn't seem to matter how many people have died, or the fact that the world is a more dangerous place, your condone the killing. That makes you as sick as the "terrorists"
