Today is a day of mourning...

As a native Texan, living in Iowa, and knowing that all true Texans know of this day, I proclaim today a great day of mourning.
For on this date in 1836,
The Alamo fell to the Mexican army.

I've been to the alamo. Its soo small. San antonio is a great city. Isn't that the city where they have a big outdoor/indoor mall with a river that goes thru the center?

I never get these wars that happened before real artillery was invented. Just go around whatever is in your way. Why go thru it?

And now, Ozzy has bubbles blowing at concerts. He's the prince of f**kin darkness and he has bubbles (I loved that episode, that was too funny).

A true Texan (such as yours truly here) knows that damnyankee is one word.
Yep, spent many a day and night on the riverwalk, the gardens, so forth.
Everyone, not just Texans, should visit San Antonio once in their lives.

As I once explained to my lovely wife, the Iowan:
Go anywhere in the world and say you are from Texas, and they beam and want to know more. Everyone knows about Texas.
Now go anywhere in the world and say you are from Iowa, and you will get a blank look.
Heck, now living in Iowa and even the Iowans give me a blank look when I say I now live in Iowa!

Just curious... where did the "americans" get it from? Are you sure YOU should be the one in mourning?

    Just a thought.

We stole most of the SW USA from Mexico and the Indians, so we are to feel sorry for a small battle lost when we took the entire area from Mexico  :D

almost every group of people who currently occupy their current spot on the planet took it from someone else at some point. I fail to see your point.

You would have to get the history behind the Alamo and the Texican revolution.
Only way to really understand how Texas came about.
And Texas allowed the US to let them in as a state.

The Mexicans are taking back everything!
Bad enough that one has to be bi-lingual in the US now, without doing nothing about illegal immigration.

Nope... never. I'm not into political correctness at all. Fact is that america is built on stolen land. They killed and drove out the Indians and Mexicans. Later they enslaved, killed and raped Africans. Even after the civil war Black americans (and any visual minority really) are STILL treated as 2nd class citizens... and despite this they have the nerve to say they are fighting for whats "right" and their god given rights, that they respect others, equallity and justice. Just a big joke really.

    Ouch. :)

Before making broad, wrong statements about slavery in the US, read your history.
ANd ready current history about slavery.
Africans, among others, are still used as slaves in the so-called enlightened Muslim countries.

Now leave me alone so I can watch the Hawkeyes beat up on Michigan (hopefully!)

"broad, wrong statements" in particular intrests me... are you saying that slavery DIDN'T exist in america? That is a pretty bold statement! Are you saying that americans DIDN'T got to Africa to KIDNAP/STEAL/TRADE people for slavery??? Don't kid yourself.

Let's not get on the subject of Muslisms, I don't have to many nice words for them... but I like their carpets.
