Leo, I have no religious sentiment and I do not have any anti-Islamic bent. I feel the same way about this as I do about many other things, and all of them with come down to feelings and thoughts over how we treat our fellow beings. This is the only source of my protest. It may not be apparent, but I do believe what one cares about starts at home - going back to Berkeley, I used to be deeply offended that Apartheid in South Africa took a precedence while the virtual apartheid next door, in Oakland, California, got little attention; and I stridently said so, in word and print. In other words, there is much in my own society that is ill, and I agree with you fully here.

At the same time, I don't believe what one cares about ends with one's national boundary. In the subject of this thread, I think it's wrong to hold these women to this standard, plain and simple; and I am deeply saddened by my perception of their exclusion from a free life.

From what i can see (which you failed to), he tried to explain that in other religions, people CHOOSE to go into that world and ACCEPT certain things which are customary by that certain religion, in this case - how to dress.
The women who become nuns, for example, CHOOSE to become nuns, therefor accept the dress code that will be brought upon them after joining. They do not face oppression, death, lashes, stoning or any of such violent punishments if they do not comply.
