Insurgents behead Buddhist man (BangkokPost.com) Insurgents shot dead two Buddhist men in Narathiwat late Tuesday before beheading one of them early Wednesday, according to news agency AFP.The two men, aged 50 and 51, were killed in an ambush. The younger man was decapitated, police said.He was the 27th person who was beheaded in the restive Muslim-majority South since 2004. Insurgents also detonated at least five bombs at power transmission poles in the province late Tuesday. The attacks did not cause any blackout. Police investigated the scenes early Wednesday, and a high-ranking police officer was critically injured when he stepped on a bomb hidden at a transmission pole located on Narathiwat-Tak Bai road. Pol Col Noppadon Pueksomon, deputy commander of Narathiwat Provincial Police, stepped on a 10-kilogramme bomb hidden underground. The blast cut his left arm and left leg. His head was also hit by the blast. He was rushed to a hospital in Songkhla province.
