To use or not to use bold letters for the keywords?

I have 5 keywords (long tail) which I used for my website content. I used each one for 2 times around each 100 words. Now, I heard that if you write with bold letters everytime a keyword is used, you can get a better rank from Google for them. In other words, I heard that this is a on-site SEO tehnique. But, on the other hand, having all the keywords written with bold fonts on all the pages, can be a bad thing for those who actually are trying to read that text content. So...I really don't know what to do... Should I use the bold letter for my keywords or not?

Bold fonts using <strong> tags add more weight to the keywords in the search engines, so you should use them when possible. H1, H2, and H3 tags also add weight to your keywords. Anything below h3 is not recommended to be used, as there is no additional weight added to them.

I would suggest using them. It's been pointed out by those who work for Google that doing things to put more emphasize on the importance of your link/keyword, such as wrapping <strong> tags around them, is recommended.

Some told me to use the strong tag only for the first appearence of the keyword on that page, others suggested to use the strong tag everytime the keyword appear and other told me not to use it at all, because of the bad visual impact on the reader. LOL...what's the correct choice?

I still think density has a place when it looks natural. Also while H1 and H2 are probably the most important places to have keywords, any change from standard text on a page will place more emphasis on words and MAY have google treating the words as more important. This means bold, italics, colour or larger font size. The issue of course is how often and how stand out you want to make the words, without making the page look junky for humans. If you can standardize how you make important text stand out, and do it classy, that will work for everyone.

Well if its the BOLD text you're worried about, use CSS to make the text light again :) and whenever you need to make them bold, assign a class for it.

You can write keywords in Bold. it'll increase the importance of the keywords but make sure you use it beyond the limit.
Do not make your keywords bold every time. Use this technique randomly.

Using keywords in bold will add the additional visibility to that. It's very nice in user's perspective but it would not have any impact in SEO. It's just to attract the users.
