I have read that turning off the content network adds is a good idea in most cases with adwords. I keep it turned off and I get pretty good CTR's. Does anyone have an opinion or have done any tests on this? What about with the changes google made recently (ie. adding tracking cookies)?
First, you should never, ever run a campaign with both search and the content on. They should be in separate campaigns. There are differences in those networks and your ads should be difference as a result. Using the content network also has a lot to do with what you're selling. Many times, it's just not worth it.
Thanks for the response Lucid. That's what I figured. Any idea what products or product criteria do better on the content network vs. search? Just curious. I'm doing pretty well on the search network right now.
Pretty much anything can do well on the content network. Create a campaign just for the CN, use 'automatic placements' and add keywords to your ad groups to help Google choose the right pages to show your ads on.
Based on what I heard, using Google Content Network is actually a good idea since the QS isn't as rigid. << Gauher Chaudhry
