the SE's are so weird. I have tons of targeted backlinks to one domain for a particular keyword. We'll call it "blue-widgets". I make no gains. Well, page 6. I create "blue-widgets.us" and do a 300 directory submission package from www.w3joint.com and nothing else. I'm serious here. Nothing else. I think I created one backlinks from my blog just to get indexed early on. and my blue-widgets.us domain reaches top 5 on both Yahoo and MSN in a heartbeat. nowhere to be seen in Google yet.... but the traffic I get from the other two is worth it. It's crazy how much weight they put on the domain name. crazeee I say.
yeah I thought so too. So I just started another AOM site with a strong SEO domain name. I set it up for another 400 submissions <crosses fingers> we'll see how it goes!
are you using w3joint for that one too? is their program automated or what? 400 is a lot of directories...I am doing mine manually and it is sloooow going. how long after you submitted to directories did you see site on the first page of msn and yahoo? thanks.
the SE's are really so weird. During my first 6 months, my website is on the first page of Yahoo and Msn for a not so competitive keyword but nowhere in Google. When I change my main keyword to more competitive one, I lost my ranking in Yahoo but now on the first page of Google.
They do manual submissions so they check your keywords that you are after, your url, your site, and your descriptions to help you achieve the highest possible approval rate when they do the submissions. They chose really good directories, so you have to have a decent site or the directory owners will reject ya. 1 page results after a couple months for that keyword in particular I just started a new campaign last week, and I have two more I'm going to start the end of this week so we'll see how it goes!
Thanks for the reply...that is intriguing. I suppose the hardest part of this whole process, especially for me, is being patient. Oftentimes one will make a concerted effort in good faith but not really know if the actions will pay off until months later. Two months is a great turnaround though! Good luck with your new project
thanks and you're right. The waiting game is the hardest of the process. But after you learn the waiting game, you start to trust your instincts and make more 'investments'. I was working a domain hard about a year ago and after a few months I gave up on Google. I got good results in MSN and Yahoo, but couldn't even find my domain in Google for any keywords. 6 months later I figured I'd just check to see if ANY progress was made... and I was ranked #1 in Google, LOL!
