To sitemap or not to sitemap

    Sitemaps are necessary for you to tell the search engines to index your site quickly. If you wait for them to index, it will take a longer time than submitting your sitemap.

    use sitemap, submit it to google using webmaster tool. This helps in indexing the site pages. Make sure all pages are working and no under construction or 404.

    In the later part yes, but not in the first bit, no :p

    The way I understood it, you were saying if you didnt update your sitemap then the newer pages wouldnt get crawled or you would loose out on PR because it'd look like your site was dead... But this isn't the case ^_^ Google will still crawl your site and see new content anyway :)

    That's all I was debating :p

    But having said that, if you do keep a sitemap, you're right, it's pretty pointless unless you keep it updated, because otherwise you're still relying on google to manually discover your pages..

    Sitemap and Submitting URL to SE just the same?

    If you have a Blogger site, you do not need to create or submit a Sitemap file as this is done automatically for you.

    Sitemap is good when you have a new site. But once your site is established, you need not submit sitemap. Lets the bots do the job
