I received an offer from the owner of BLAH.com on my domain BLAH.com. The offer was for $100. What should I counter with, or should I just sell at this price? Jason
Few things come to mind...(a)do you think, he is "lowballing you"..trying to get a feel for your expertise etc.(b) Do you need the money..right now or in the near future? (c) Do you have plans for your domain? (d)did you check out the "whois.net" for info on the potential buyer? (d)He might be trying to acquire your domain, in order to "redirect" it to his site (e) most .com that I seen listed on sites like Sedo.com are in the 4 figure range What I personally would do is..(1) research the prices that similiar .com are going for (2) respond to his offer stating that you are currently have no plans for selling your domain but are willing to look at reasonable offers or say that you are also considering another offer at 10% more.. and see if how he re-acts or that you have hired an appraiser and you are waiting for a response Another option that is available to you is to list your domain on a '"resell site" SEDO etc.
Quite honestly, I don't know if he is trying to lowball me. I really can't tell. However, seeing as how he sells hardware at 4k a pop on hardware.com, one would think that he could afford a bit more than $100. I do not need the money now, and my idea for the site was an utter flop. About whois, that's how I found this person and kindled interest.
I'm not sure I understand - you are selling Blah.com or you are making a sale to the owner of Blah.com? If you are selling Blah.com - $100 is too low.
How can you ask for advice on a should i sell something for this price? leaving out any details that make it possible to even give an opinion.
Well it will depend on the domain name. If someone is offering you $100 for a reg fee domain then you shouldn't bother to counter and negotiate. If it is a good domain name then of course you should counter and make a good deal out of it.
I don't get it? You own BLAH.COM but the owner of BLAH.COM made you an offer to buy BLAH.COM ?? So you made an offer to yourself ?? I suggest you to make you a counter offer. You may accept your offer or counter counter offer on you offer. After all, YOU are the one who want BLAH.COM and you want to sell BLAH.COM to you so be strong on yourself. Don't give up to fast. You own it, not you. And you want it...so, go for it...
You could spend $20 at afternic for an appraisal to help determine the value of the domain. However if it is a domain that failed for you and if you are the one that made the initial contact then you are probably better off just taking the $100 and moving on. Personally when somebody contacts me about a domain I give them the price I'm willing to pay and if they make a counter offer then I don't buy the domain. I sell the same way, I state my price and if it's rejected with a counter offer I simply don't sell. I don't waste my time playing games. gene
I understood ...JRBHosting receive a email offer from a person who owned a domain (probably similiar to JRBHosting domain) that wants to buy JRBHosting domain After reading this thread, I kinda thinking that maybe your domain is being sought for a re-direct! -see if the .net, .org, .biz, .info (of your domain name) are registered to him! If so odd are higher a "redirect" Are you in any negotiations with him?
Yes, I am. I was advised to make a counter-offer of $700; so I did that. I am waiting for a response now Will keep you posted
Counter offer at $700.00 good start...he will probably offer you around $200.00 (my guesstimate) anyway yes please keep us informed>
Frankly if I thought the domain was worth anything in the neigborhood of $700 I would spend the $20 have it appraised. Might be the cheapest $20 you ever spent. Just my personal opinion. gene
$100 for blah.com sounds pretty good. It's rare to find a 4 letter "word", and for one $100 isn't bad
I recommend you to read the original post again. If you have done so, and still think it's blah.com, read it over again until you change your mind. Happy reading.
