Hey all, I got a question about .. say a squidoo lens for example Do people generally want to be 'sold' a product .. or subtly recommended it? so "BUY NOW" versus .. "this is good you should try it too"
depends on what you are selling, but for the most part you should have a call to action, so buy now works better.
im kind of an in-between myself i always "highly recommend" products im promoting, pushing that this is going to be a worthwhile investment
Recommend it and don't say bu now because they will just think that you are after their money. That's my first impression if someone says buy now. I don't like being force to do something.
Don't force people, if people are forced they never go for it. Also, never wind into six pages, people hate that as well.
If you build a very focussed Squidoo lens that targets a single niche or micro-niche and is tagged properly then the traffic you get is more likely to include serious buyers rather than people who are just browsing. Someone who arrives at your lens via a very specific search term has often done some product research already and is looking to buy. When you get highly targeted traffic, your job is to provide the product and information about the product that the customer will want to know before purchasing. If you do that you will get sales without having to go the hard sell.
thanks for the replies guys Yea you have a point Think_Big, specific buyers are looking for info so I am going with a more "info and recommend" approach with my lens As with landing pages, I will save them for PPC =P
I believe pre-sell is better than selling. The percentage of people buying from pre-sell is a lot more than selling. people hate selling and ads. just take a look at yourself. if you understand what is the process you take as buyer when buying something online then that is the process you should do as sellers.
If the product you're trying to sell is good, have a "call to action". Like "Buy it now", "Try it", "Check it out" etc.
