To raise, or not to raise, that is the question

Hey guys. I recently started up a new directory, at www.BigLinkDirectory.com. So far it has been a success. With over 550 submissions in the first fully day of opening.

Currently, Big Link Directory has 23 featured links at $1.00 USD (permanent) each. I've got a few suggestions saying raising it to $12.00 USD (permanent) (I guess $12.00 for 12 months, although the link is permanent) would be a good move if I take my directory seriously.

I'm considering doing this, but in my opinion I think it will make me less money. My directory is brand new, is PR0. What would make people want to pay $12.00 to get into a PR0 directory? So my question to you is this, should I make the raise, or keep it low?

Step by step slowly slowly get some clients get some exposure and get some pr before you raise the prices that much

Go a bit higher for sure but don't scare them all away and promote/support your site 365/24/7

    Good luck too :)

think your sentiments are right: it will be hard to convince ppl to pay $12 for a PR0 directory. Of course, if you have lots of visibility and marketing, and people SEE that, then it might be different.

Suggest that if you really want to raise prices, raise it slightly maybe to $5. Then it will be more palatable. Don't worry, this industry, like any other, is based on supply & demand. As you see more demand, then u will know it is a good time to raise prices.....

As britishguy said, take small steps and don't be impatient. You will notice the changes as u take these small steps, which will better allow you to adjust accordingly.

12 for a pr0 is too much, think that there are a lot around ...even with pr greater than 0 and lower prices.

What do you think of the idea of maybe raising it 5 cents every week or something like that?
