    I have mine across two ips though I feel it would be best to have unique ips for each...
    Preferably from widely separated blocks...

    Well, if your plan is to give out some good backlinks for SEO purposes, different IPs and different domains (including details) would be obviously beneficial.

    If you plan on driving traffic through the directory it would be a completely different matter. It would be a lot more about promotion and marketing.
