To new thread, or not to new thread...

This is primarily for the moderators but if anyone has been informed of the answers to these prior, please do let me know. I have two questions, both are related to the BST section.

    1) When is it considered, from a moderating standpoint, to start a duplicate thread? i.e. the same service offered as you have done before. For example, if I am offering advertising on a particular website and someone takes that spot, then a month or so later down the line, I want to re-advertise the spot as it's become available - do I bump the thread to say the spot is back on the market or am I allowed to start a new thread as a certain amount of time has lapsed?

Another example is buying advertising. I buy link space / ad spots for my clients on a monthly, sometimes bi-monthly basis. What is the correct procedure for requesting new proposals? Do I simply start a new thread each time I require the proposals or do I state in a single thread that I do not require anymore proposals and then state in the same thread, be it the following month, that I'm looking for links / advertising again? Or do I have to get one locked before opening another?

    2) What is acceptable to post in your own thread and it not be constituted as a bump? Obviously I'm aware of the "PM Sent" and have read the posts in this forum about storing the price in an image etc... The reason I am asking is I get a lot of "Is this still available?" or "Are you still looking?" - are these acceptable questions to reply to in the thread? (without risk of infraction).

Hopefully someone can help me out on the above. Obviously I want to avoid infractions at all costs as I'm sure 99% of the users here do. I hope the answers to the above will also help out others with these grey area matters.

Please no, "no bumps, no new thread" response. I'd appreciate a proper answer as I'm sure would the rest of the BST users.

    Cheers guys.

    Paul

If there's a legitimate reason for starting a new thread (like the spot became unavailable - therefore old thread technically could have been closed - and it's re-available now), request the old thread to be closed, and then post a new one with the new sale deals.

If nothing changed in what you're looking for, you can't bump, and you shouldn't start a new thread. If you ask us to close the old one, and whoever you get is in a good mood, we might close it and let you open a new one. But just because the old one's buried isn't a good enough reason. If you want a thread back live, add it to your sig - it does work.

    2) If a question is asked, replying to it ONCE shouldn't be a problem, if there are multiple people asking. If it's just one person asking, you can PM them with a response.
