God..how to start this.. OK so Dear networks/advertisers, you are always looking for us publishers to deliver quality traffic, quality users, convert your ads into clicks, into sales, into money. And that's cool. But how about a little help here? Look at the putrid ads i'm forced to display to my visitors: Now...WTH? Seriously WTH?? What is that supposed to be? A pixelated ad featuring cartoon legs covered by concentric vomits with a sign telling me to "PLAY GAMES", REALLY? Man, i'm dying to click that garbage out! I'm not asking you to be marketing genius or Photoshop experts but c'mon! I can make a better ad smashing my head over the keyboard on MSPaint. I swear to God. How dare you to put such a garbage in our sites? Don't you feel ashamed of your work? Well you freaking should PS: That's not a flash ad i caught in a middle of a transition, it's a jpg ad, it's just like that..all the time.
Most adnetworks are able to block advertisers or banner ads from being displayed on their publisher website. You can reach out to the adnetwork you are using and ask them to get that banner blocked on your website.
csrefernce is correct most ad networks provide a means to remove an ad from appearing on your site, but believe it or not ugly relates to clicks in many cases for advertisers. If they are running that ad, I can almost guarantee that it is working.
I would actually have to disagree with the above 2 posts. For the only reason is most networks - run other 3rd party campaigns, sell inventory to exchanges which means that they really don't have full control over every aspect...as much as a network which only deals with direct advertisers. More and more now a days though these BS networks coming out of the wood work are just middlemen to other networks, and the other networks are just paying them a higher revshare to compensate for the volume. A lot of times too - to add to the point of banners being disgusting etc. Advertisers will use generic banners like "Play Games" and it goes to 20 different landing pages, every time a user clicks the same banner a different "Game to play" is shown, and in a lot of cases advertisers then complain about conversion ratios as well as bounce rates.
You are right many Networks, especially CPM networks are just a middleman showing another networks ads. Even in that case there is often a way to block the ad. But there are plenty of networks that are direct sales and have a report button for their publishers to use as well that streamline the process.
Yeah, mostly it's middleman. Anyway it's better to check first and even ask them directly. Just make banners more "alive" in order to get more attention.
