hello well i have a bunch of pr3-pr4 sites saved in my favorites that i usually add to my sites to get them indexed faster. But recently i added around 10 pr3-pr4 links in a day to a new site to test out this theory. In two days the website was ranked number 5 for a key word with 1.6million pages then suddenly it vanished and cant be found even by a direct url search. So i guess this is true dont get too many links to fast of you will get banned. Does any one else have a similar experience with getting banned from to many links to fast?
Same thing happened to a friend. He was #1 for a niche keyword (which was also the source of his small business revenue), and he signed up for a "Get 1000 links for $50" type deal. He was listed all over splogs and other spam sites. He had maintained his #1 spot for months, but within a day his site wasn't even in the top 100. *poof* I've always considered buying links, but at the same time I've been very nervous to do so after my friend's experience (he actually shut down his online business, which was just a side job anyway, because he lost so much revenue as a result). so links to your site is bad?! how about directory submissions - would getting on pr3-7 directories be a bad thing.. about 200 in a short time?
I have first hand experiance at this from about 2 weeks ago. I have 2 sites, both making there way up the SREPS on google so everything was looking good. I placed a link to both of these sites from another, not site wide but a foot link which totalled about 40 links. Now keep in mind the site I was linking from was PR5, dmoz listed and out of the sandbox for years. Within 3 days my two other sites which were making there way up, fell about 300 places each. All the sites were relevant to each other, no hidden tricks just plain old footer links, so yes sometimes you can get to many links to quick, just add them over time rather that getting 40 in one day.
hmm.. so when directories are involved - i can only add my link to 1 directory a day or something? thats stupid... if I'm doing directory submissions, I'm going to as many as i can in sit down...
nando ... it depends on how many backlinks you have. If you have 1,000 backlinks and add yourself to 10 directories, Google won't care. Reverse those #s and Google will consider your site spam bait. Google is trying to guard against SEO'ers who create massive link farms to rank above quality sites that have thousands of genuine backlinks. Anita
getting link to fast will not effect your page rank and serp result because google will think that this is an action to change pr and google search algorithm is based on pr . google will not allowed this . this is punishment reason
yes the theory has proven correct get 2 links a day for a week, then 3 the next week, then 5 the next week, and soon you will have long term top rankings, traffic + sales mk
Buying links seems like it is always a bad idea. You be better off spending that money on more advertising or even adwords, in the long run.
Link baits in popular blogs can get a lot of links very quickly. I don't see any of them being blacklisted. Maybe it's something to do with the links being contextual ..
Some of this logic is true. Part of it isn't.... It is ok if you receive a good number of links.... as long as you can keep up that same number month after month. Anotherwords, if you get 50 links one month... don't get 3000 the next..... get 200 one month.. and 180-220 the next and so on.... For the guy that had a niche ranking and lost it, it was a mistake to cancel his business. Algorithms shift all the time and besides, even if you got 300 links, there is no way they would all be cached, spidered, and indexed all in the same day. He should of let it ride out because he would of had his ranking again. To add to that, I wouldn't go for those "3000 links for $50 deals." Best to get relevant links if you can or trade links on linkmarket etc.. Hope this helps.
Yes I believe that getting too many links to quickly on a site that is fairly new and has very few links can trigger a filter. I don't think your banned. I would never pay anyone to submit my site just because of something like that. I like to be in control of who I am sumitting to.
I did an experiment too, I overdid it with linking for my sites. They all were good in google for like 2 months then poof. Now i'm only indexed in MSN and Yahoo.
