To many Links With one Anchor Text?

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by gotlinks, Dec 20, 2007.

Is it possible to have to many links pointing to a page with just 1 anchor text? Is it best to break it up and use multiple anchors linking to that page?

    Thanks for any insight!

I would make text with mutiple terms and use them. I would not just use one term.

I have found that if you use your main desirable phrase as your anchor text that is the best policy...

according to my knowledge, it's not a good idea to have the same anchor text
to all of your back links

the reason for that, is that Google put a lot of weight on those backlinks, and
the more natural they look, the better. if you have the exact same anchor text for
10000, it might look like you did it with some kind of link software

another reason, is that a lot of your ranking for a specific keyword is determined
by what written on your backlinks anchor text. so, if you have a variety of
anchor text, you are actually aiming for more keywords

according to Aaron wall's seo book, you shouldn't have more then 20-30%
of your backlinks with the same anchor text, and that's for your main keyword
    of course

hope that I've answered your question:)

Personally, I find that about 45% of links being keyword based and 45% of links coming from relevent sites does work. More is better, though as to having them all the same...jury is still out, I'm afraid.

it's simple, raise the percentage of your keyword anchor text to about 40-45%
and for the rest of them use different but related text. if 100% of your backlinks
have the same anchor text, you might be flagged

    well:)

I always knew about this subject by theory, never really had a practical test.
but your thread really have made me think a bit.
so I did a little digging and came up with this tool:

    http://tools.seobook.com/backlink-analyzer/
(they don't let me put live links yet, I'm too young in this forum :()

didn't check it yet, hope it could help you out
I really think that we should have a bit of experimenting with subject

They are two different things. One is the term used in the links and the other is for the relevance of the actual web pages the links are on.

Use variations to the keyword. Using different suffixes, capitalization, adjectives, etc.

Google webmaster tools shows all the links to your site and the corresponding anchor text.

Just the exact keyword will give you high "keyword1 keyword2" allinanchor: having also in keyword phrases will give you nice inachor: placement for very competitive terms you will need top 2 or 3 in all to rank in addition to stemmed versions...

If you have the same anchor text on all of your backlinks you are google bombing. This is something google has fought hard to avoid. I'm pretty sure they would consider that backlink spamming. You should be using different anchor text and backlinking related keywords to related content.

For example if you have a website about food and a page about cheese, the backlinks to the cheese page should have cheese keywords.

If you use one anchor only -> look like spam so they don't look natural so is bad :)

Using one anchor text will not be a good or natural way of linking...

Using the same exact anchor text? This is an obvious sign of unnatural link building. Your link building should look natural, and varied anchor text will help.
