To increase your revenue on your sites, do you go through your ads and ban the bad 1s

Is that how a lot of people increase their revenue from the same amount of clicks? By checking out the sites that are advertising on your sites, and then banning the bad ones and hoping that your earnings go up because of the quality advertisers?

I stopped doing that...because new garbage sites popped up anyway....There are ways to optimize your page to get better paying ads depending on your topic....

Well, it's not something you just do and forget. Like your site, itself, you have to continually work at it.

This can work against you too. As you say you have to keep on top of it. I find limiting the number of ads keep the low paying ads off my site and improves my visitor's experience.

Yup, One or Two ad blocks instead of three is always better. Go with One ad block if you can, or just try it for a week, and you'll be impressed - for sure.

Yes, people usually fliter out the MFA and clickbank ads. But there is a limit on how many sites you can filter out, and the 1 cent ads keep on coming. Best thing you can do is write content that includes higher paying ads hoping to have a higher paying ad pop up on your site.

There is a limit on how many you can block?

This is going to pose a problem for me, considering i'm going to be running an article site covering 100's of topics.

Is there any way around this?

Yes Im pretty sure that you can only filter out about 200 ads or so, someone here with better knowledge of adsense can clarify it.

It's almost impossible to get around smart-pricining, everyone is getting inflicted and can't get rid of it.

Since you have so many DIFFERENT topics and a limited number of slots for blocking, you may be better off taking a look at the ads that actually show up on your site rather than a generic list. In my case, the odds of the sites in generic lists actually showing up are not that high.

adsblacklist does not give you a generic list.
It looks at the keywords for your site and then gives you a list based on that, so that is not, by definition, generic.

Have you used adsblacklist Adpubster, or is that just your offhand opinion?

I tried a few lists and compared them to known offenders. It got a few of them like the 4topsites.com variety...which are a bit generic themselves since they then show categories for any flavor keyword you come up with.

If all the ballyhoo is correct about 01 June, it's going to be interesting to see if some of them are still active after that date. Interestingly, they were still going strong until I reactivated my filter three days ago.

As for generated lists, a lot probably depends upon your content...if you have the typical lawyer, dui, insurance site, you might not do too bad with the list, however such keywords are going to have a lot more of those type of offenders to target so 200 filter-slots is not going to be enough.

I filter all the MFA and the sites who offer free contents and have adsense/CB ads.
Most of them tend to be .info

Yeah, it's wise to block the MFA sites. However, come the 1st June (not long finally!) Google will be blocking the MFA sites on your behalf - permanently ;)

I wouldn't empty your filter, just yet, though. Wait until after 01 June, check out some of the sites in your filter and see if they are still displaying adsense. I'm willing to bet that a number of them will still be around.
