to hyphen or not to hyphen...

..that is the question. Well, its my question anyway.

Now i've been learning a lot about SEO recently, one thing ive learned is to use page-name.htm rather than page_name.htm or pagename.htm, what im wondering is if the same goes for domain names?

So, would i be better registering threeworddomain.com or three-word-domain.com keeping in mind that i'd like the site searchable on the three words separately.

My guess is three-word-domain.com, even though its less smooth from a "typing it into your browser" perspective, it is better for SEO.

Am i correct? Anyone care to comment?

    Cheers.

Depends on how you plan to get visitors. Mostly from advertisements? Don't even think about it!!

Mostly from links on the internet? I vote yes.

with hyphenated you take advantage from links with your domain name as anchor, while non hyphened get a weird unimportant word like "gotomarsnow"

That was the kinda thing i was after. Searching on "goto" "mars" and "now" rather than "gotomarsnow".

    :)
