I was watching cable T.V. - Ian Wright on America having some poof of a soccer star criticizing Americans for Hunting animals. I don't think he was a vegetarian and unless you are a vegetarian I think anyone who objects to hunting is a hypocrite. I've been hunting numerous times and take pride in a quick humane kill - one shot - instant death. I've been to cow slaughter houses and seen how they kill the cows - I think the average beast would prefer a quick kill from out of nowhere than sitting in a pen knowing whats about to happen. No wonder they have to hang the meat overnight to relax the tense muscles. YOUR THOUGHTS?
Well first of all, not all americans hunt animals but... I'm not a vegetarian and am against hunting for the sake of entertainment (if its for survival and food much like the inuits up north , that I am ok with it). Depends on how you stand ethically..
this thread can change your feeling: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=273665 it has changed me, and many more, to an almost vegitarian. but then am not againest hunting, killing, slaughering, etc.
..... But these will make you sadder (its about animal cruelty, not hunting though.. but they're kind of the same in a sense..) http://www.animalinks.net/links/photos.html
I am not talking here about whether or not being a non vegetarian is ethically right. Who was the soccer star in question btw? There is an Ian Wright who is a footballer, but I didn't get what you exactly intended to say in your first statement
I don't have any problem with animals Humans are my problem some really deserve a shot in the head ....
I think hunting is the reason we are all alive right now. Back then in the stone ages, the only reason humans survived is because they were hunting. I don't think any humans back then had any vegetrains diets. I very ok with hunting, but never done it before. Probably my biggest hardcore was fishing! I hate people who say that animals have the right to live just like humans. Animals are made by god so we can eat them.. Not so we can watch them. Except if we are talking about Dogs and Horses.
Yes it was Ian WRIGHT the soccer star (the threads Ian Wright on America might give that one away). I see animal rights is big in the UK and they have recently banned fox hunting. I'll be interested to see if foxes become a plague there or not? I've hunted on numerous occassions - mainly brush tail possums in New Zealand (very different from US ones) - they are an introduced pest and there are about 80-160 million munching away on the native forrest killing it as there are no natural predators. My friends and I bagged 120 in about 3 hours so you get the idea of the scale of the problem. What annoyed me was here was a millionaire who would have buckley's understanding of the bush and wild criticizing Yanks for hunting. I get sick of city dwellers who have no idea how their food gets on the table. Although never a farmer I've had family with farms and have milked cows, chopped the heads of sick chickens, had a large vegetable garden, etc.
Why would you need to hunt animals for fun? Your just killing something. Your better off testing weapons at a test range. Because i have dogs and if someone shot them for a minutes pleasure, i would be furious. I just don't get whats so pleasurable about it for killing something. No matter what animal they will feel the pain. If the pleasure is the firearm then test it at a testing center.
Im an avid hunter and fisherman, i love the outdoors and spending time in it....i let alot of deer ect. walk and get them on camera but i do harves animals as well. If there were not animal control it would be more cruel on the animals as food would be more scarse and disease would be more abundant. Then you would have people complaining about insurance rates going up because so many people hit deer on the hwy... for instance in gettysburg pa it was illegal to hunt as it was a park and automobile accidents were horrible there people complaining about gardens ect because the herds got so out of hand. anyways enough from me! there is an old indian word for vegitarian and its "bad hunter"
