To Form A Group Blog or Not?

Okay I run Gazotto (a gadget/tech NOT webmaster blog i.e. it's for normal people :)). I love what I'm doing and trying to be different (though some might disagree).

I'm not sure what direction to take. I'd like it to be updated a little more often and would need more people.

I don't have money at this time and am in College.

I also have really strict guidlines. I'm not a pain in the a$$ just that I like do actually discuss and write rather then show a picture, paste some stats and call it a post.

Again some might disagree, but I am really trying.

Now would it be a good idea to open this thing up?

What do I have to be careful of?
    Would anyone be interested?

Again nothing is final, and I'm still making up my mind here. Would love your input.

Are you happy splitting the profit?

    If so then do it...

That's my problem. I'm currently making under 30 bucks a month.
    So there isn't much profit.

Would you care if you were getting $7 instead of $30?

Kind of :). At this point anything is good. I haven't even gotten my first cheque from Google.

But I am part of other group blogs like Thirdsquare where I'm not getting paid and I really don't mind because it's on a subject I like to discuss.

I was hoping to find someone or some people with a passion for this kind of stuff.

Are you saying that it's just not gonna happen?

That won't make money because it's too techy. :)

I'm not saying it's not gonna happen (Although you'd make more by writing about something more 'domestic').

Lets say you take 3 more posters on...

In theory your should make $120 overall (or you could make $1000)...

To the same extent you could still only make $30, which would leave you with $7...

Put it this way, you have nothing to lose really do you? :)

I'll chip in here, with my gadget blog I have one paid writer (currently on vacation) and 2 volunteers. With the volunteers will give them a split of profits when the site really takes off. Finding writers on this genre is tricky as they could easlily start a blog of their own. Do you have any friends in real life that may be interested in writing with you on a partnership basis?

Hmm I could find some. I think one could, but he's a little over the top techie.

I could definitely try. That is an idea I never thought of dct.

    Thanks

    Nice to hear that :)

    Skinny,

Did you receive the TS plan e-mail, I described the plan of monetizing the blog maybe you could take some pointers from that. Otherwise contact me on IM and we can talk.

Also did you send me your pub code and channel code, I would like to set you up with that.

One tip I could give you is don't rely on AdSense as your revenue stream it does not work, focus on bringing quality entries and then find direct advertisers.

Also as the admin you have to actively edit posts to make them fit your sites style and goal...;)
