I cannot stand flash myself, when it come to an "intro" on a web site. It has its place, but it looks like more of an annoyance when trying to enter a site you frequent. So my question is, when I have a customer that insists on a flash intro, is it possible to code the page such that visitors that visit the site often only see the flash the first time? What I mean is, assuming that most visitors will have a static IP, can I some how code the page such that those visitors will only see the flash page once? Make sense? Thanx.
I'd set a cookie to get rid of the flash for repeat visitors. You could also probably log the IPs that access the flash file and not show it to those IPs again. I detest flash intros on a site. They are annoying and you are forced to either watch it or move on. I usually pick the latter.
intros left aside, I think flash is a good extra, not for primary use but if used wisely it could be very cool, hybrid sites rule!
I would simply use a cookie + skyp intro. I won't assume that most of them use Static IP's, at leats here in Europe, where tyhe trend is completely the opposite.
Flash in a header is usually tasteful, or flash buttons those are cool. But, uhh, yea flash intro's are kinda dumb IMO. If I came to the site I wanna see the content, not the intro!
flash is funny/useful for experienced user, but not for the plain one. Remember, the majority of internet users are dummies - try not to confuse them
i've seen flash done very well when it's used conservatively...like just 1 image and maybe just a highlight othertimes it's good is when it's used to present data, like live plasma and analytics
