If you know how to create your own software such as .exe ebooks, or screensavers etc, then you can submit them to software directories and get a lot of high pr backlinks to your website that way (your web address and keyword are embedded into the pad file which is sent to the various directories). You can do a google search for info about how to do this.
Great Tip. I still think good ole' link bait in one of the best long term link building strategies. You're actually adding valuable content to the web, there's no duplication of content, and it allows the possibility of an exponential return on the time invested.
