To create a Search Enigne U NEED?

I wnat to make my own search engine like google, but better.


Any ideas? i think you need spiders and stuff like that?

Yes, I also think you need spiders but go with crabs..they are bigger and will crawl faster.......

I am the founder and CEO of a search engine. Before you begin here are a few initial questions:

1. Do you know how to program and if not, how will you setup and maintain the search engine?

2. How much money are you planning to invest in the project and when do you need to see a return on your investment?

Well said. SE's are EXTREMELY complicated these days. It is entirely possible to create something better than G ('cause ANYTHING is possible in this world), however you will be limited by your...

1) Knowledge
2) Money

If you don't have either of those, then you're pretty much like every schmo here that wants to get paid.

If you have one, find the other....

 

I suppose I should ask... how much money do you plan on investing in it, how much do you already know (that relates to building a search engine) and how fast can you learn?

Here is a minimum of what you will need to know:

1. You must figure out how search engines work and how your search engine will be built.

2. At least one programming language that can be used to write every aspect of a search engine. The more languages the better though.

3. How to use that programming language to handle large amounts of data extremely fast.

Obviously there are many more details but those are a must in my opinion.
