Cloaking is hiding the real link and making use of an indirect link. This may be done by PHP files and also by simple html. yet again by cloaking web sites plenty online. you also get cloaking software for free down load and you can generate these links and put it provided the host allows it. I tried all these and finally am taking the cloaking website help.I am a newbie as my name indicates and i also would like to get some better advice.
why not just add a "nofollow" tag? I think it's better to just be upfront with your traffic about the affiliated nature of the link! Sometimes it even boosts conversions!
So it seems out of the 6 cloaked links I have, only one is working. The others I'm not making sales with. I was afraid this would happen. *update So I uncloaked a few links and not even an hour later I received 2 sales from those links. Weird.
Try www.b3po.net to cloak your affiliate link. All cloaked urls can use a tag which make the link appealing. eg: http://www.google.com/?id=uta3zh become http://b3po.net/money where money is your own tag. I found that using a cloaking link is best only to hide the long url. People will appreciate more if you tell the truth that the url is your affiliate link.
Which setup is that? (cloaked or not cloaked?) Also, when you mentioned you had 150 more hops - are hops in clickbank clicks to the advertisers landing page? (I am not familiar with clickbank yet, but I do intend to get more familiar in the coming weeks).
I have only one cloaked and the rest not cloaked. It seems to be working well. I'm going to test it more to see which ones aren't making sales and adjust. So far it's looking good. And yes, weird even though I had more hops yesterday I had only sales from one vender out of the 5 I promote. Then I changed links around a few hours ago and I'm getting sales from most venders now.
