To block or not to block?

    I'm having a problem making up my mind on whether to let the bots crawl my catalog pages or not.

    Pro: More pages indexed

    Con: I have a global footer which must appear on all the catalog pages -- would this cause duplicate content penalties if I let the bots in?

    What do you guys think?

    Are all the footers located in the same URL? I can't imagine Google nailing you for that, but I could be wrong.
