I am currently in the middle of developing a new website for the college I attend. I am still in the beginning stages, working with the IT dept, but it sounds like we are going through with it. I was wondering if any talented web designers wanted to give me a few pointers for the design I have. Its a very, very dry design, but I felt the structure was very nice. If anybody can maybe, make a new header, or give me some pointers for the nav bar (to spice that up a bit). I am a back-end developer, not a designer, so this is the stuff I am not good at. If you were to create a whole new design, you'd be able to show off in your portfolio that you worked on a colleges website. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Thanks for any input! Here is the current design I was able to make: http://shanereustle.com/sites/racc/
I'd be willing to do a cutting-edge design for free if I could get an edu backlink. What college is this for - what's their URL - is it an edu TLD?
It's a nice layout, but it's just blocks of colour, consider using pictures from college activities or a picture of the college building as a background in there, otherwise it just looks rather plain etc. Spruce up the nav bar with some rollovers maybe?
Asking for pointers is always cool. However, it seems to me that if you want a full site design for "portfolio credit" and won't even allow a link to the designer, you should move this to craigslist... You can't even get a "Website Design By: XXXXXXX" at the bottom of the page?
Nope, thats not an option, and is out of my hands to make that decision. If you aren't interested, please move on. Thanks.
