Obviously .coms are the most desired and probably always will be, but what about other TLDs, particularly newer ones - e.g. .name? Is it worth investing in domains with the newer TLDs, or should I stick to trying to find decent .com names to snap up? My own uninformed opinion is that .coms will reach a saturation point and newer TLD domains will rise in value in the long term... would anyone agree with that, or will people endlessly rehash .com names like people do with hotmail addresses (dave4256223@hotmail.com)?
imo... i guess it depends on the domain NAME. the right NAME can make an OK extension pretty GOOD. EXAMPLE: s*x.biz s*x.info - not bad at all. i prefer .com for almost everything i have, but i've also had a few .infos that worked well and got very decent monthly TYPE-INS. stick with .com, hard to go wrong.
I prefer .com's as they are the most stable and expected value isn't a question.... .net's should be good aswell.... .info's have really surprized me with how fast they have become popular....
The reason they have become so popular, is that there was a promotional offer a while back where they where free.. so people registered them en mass. Right now .com and .net's are best.. but depending on the site .org, .info, or some other extension may work.. but .com always is the first thing people try (i.e yourbusiness.com, I dont know anybody that when looking for a site trys yourbusiness.info first ) Josh
Choose the one which sits you the best.... by the way , some time from now ... dot com's would be the hottest commodity available sex.com recently sold for $14 mln...
ccTLD's are also proving to be very valuable Risultati.it just sold for $43K, Stelle.it for $10K on Moniker
Definitely .com is here to stay. But I think that you need to look at your product and see if something else would fit. For informational products, I like to use .info because they are cheap to buy and also you can usually get a good name with .info There are not a lot of good sounding .com s available right now. It is so commonly used so like to use others. .net is good and so is .biz. Like I said it really depends on your product or reason to get the domain name. Lillie
