What is the general consensus on selling text link ads on a site you own? Has anyone dropped their ads in light of google's crackdown on paid links? TLA must be of the easiest to spot and filter or penalize the site selling them. TLA themsleves don't seem to be saying much (unless I missed something).
How can they know that they are paid links.....they are just embedded into the sites html code...so they need to look at some other way!!!
Google is never going to weed out paid links manually - there are millions of sites with them.. and it is never be able to develop a perfect algorithm to detect them. All Google can do is to give more weight to "natural looking" links like content-embedded links. Also Google considers deeplinks more natural. I have seen SERPs greatly improve after I started building links to inner pages too. As for paid links - stop worrying about them - nothing is going to change much.
Also, a link to a casino site on a site about cooking is easy for them to spot. Another reason why it's important with themed links.
