I was just wondering what other peoples thoughts were on the 'title' and 'alt' attribute. Looking around i noticed that many sites don't use title tags, ive always used alt tags for images (obviously) but i have also always used the 'title' tag for text links. how much do you think Google values the title attribute as opposed to the 'alt' attribute? thanks in advance.
Title tags aren't the same as title attributes, but you've used the two interchangeably. Title attributes didn't do anything for SEO when I tested it, but alt attributes (not tags - there's no such thing) have some weight.
Alt attributes hold some weight, title tags hold immense weight, title attributes hold no weight as far as SEO goes. And there's no such thing as an alt tag.
When you try to optimize to the maximum, you might want to do almost everything wherever you can in order to increase your site's usability level. It may not be as important as ALT attributes but as I say, it does help.
I'm of the same opinion. I have not seen any benefit from adding title tags to text links. Alt tags however are a must!
Personally, I prefer to use both, Firefox sees the Title, Other browsers see the Alt tag - if you make them the same for imgs, then everything functions the same.
You should really use both, especially with an image. The alt attribute is required by W3C standards of images. The alt attribute is really important, and I think it should be used more often than I see it being used. Title tags are nice on text links for a tooltip description too, but I'm not sure of its affect SEO wise. ~Jeremy~
I wonder what may happen if I add an alt attribute to every piece of layout of my site? I think it will be an exaggeration - even though it may be a standart
