Title tags for homepage (best practices?)

I am doubting about the best method to apply for your HOMEPAGE title.

    Ie:

I have many sub pages targeting specific keywords/phrases, but basically my homepage has a lot of all, if you know what I mean.

I don't want to target the same phrase to more than 1 page (cannibalization), which leaves me wondering what I can do best to write a catchy title which is also good for SEO.

    Tips anyone?

    Thanks,

    Giorgio

Give the homepage a unique title that includes 2 or 3 of your main keywords. Don't make it too long and don;t try to stuff too many keywords in there.

But what if that most promising keyword has it's own landing page? Don't I take away a bit of the ranking when I put it in the homepage title as well?

Try to title your pages relevant to each page's content.

I'm sure you can come up with a slight variation of the targeted keywords
(one set for your home page and another for the landing page).
