    Hi
I am going through a debate between me and various SEO guys, The question is
Shall we use one keyword only in Title tag or shall we use few keywords that are most targeted?
    Which method is more effective?

Depands on your products or services, if you are targeting long tail keyword then one is better, if you are targeting more then 1 keyword then 2nd option is better but keep it in limmit

This is basically depends upon on the competition of your keywords you are going to targeted to get high quality traffic from the search engines. Both combination are best enough.

it definitely depends on products and services which website is offering. But i prefer keywords just because of the characters limits some experts say's there is 65 characters limit and some says 70 to 75 limits anyway i follow 65 characters limit in title and possibly add my all focused keywords which haves high search volume and low competition.

I will recommend to include a variation of the main keywords which are targeted with the current keyword, started with the current keyword and not longer than 60 characters and 10 words.

    Example:
If your website is about football accessories. and you have 10 pages about one football accessory each then title tags must go like this

Cheap Football Shoes - XYZ Football Accessories

See on the first page how many keywords your competitors use and stay in the middle

Well for example if the top 3 or top5 websites use more then one then I would suggest follow them.
That's what I do I just do a big research about the top 5 or top 10 competitors and you will see why they rank so high, just do all the same that they do.

Ideally, each page will target a single keyword phrase... This gives you a <title>, <h1>, <h2>s, content, etc. that you can use as on page ranking factors to boost your URLs ranking for the targeted keyword phrase.

If you do choose to target multiple keyword phrases in a single <title> then they should be only slight variations of one another... They should be almost identical and have the same meaning...

using keywords in title tag is good practice in SEO , but we should keep in mind lot of thing when doing this . Google generally read first 60 characters in Title tag . so we can adjust one or more then keywords in 1st 60 characters there but we must see that it does not appears keyword stuffing. using same keyword too many times may create problem in SEO
