Title tag length?

Why should I have to use only 65-70 characters in title tag? I know Google and others shows in search results that length but they also consider longer content in title tag. I have some title tags about 150 characters and I have never had any problems with search engines. Everybody knows that title tag is still one of the most important things in SEO.

Anything over about 64 characters will be "truncated" at the end of the link in the search engine results. The final word would be incomplete and would be followed by a ... For example (a made-up title):

If you see search results, only 65-70 characters would be shown on one line and make most sense. Longer titles also scroll on your browser toolbar so it's difficult to locate the correct window when it's minimized.

Yes I know very well a long title tag will be truncated and people don't like to see that etc. But I think SE's consider the right end of a long title tag... They put some weight also on them in SEO purpose.

You want ur kw's in your title and there is no room for many extra words in it.

If ur competing for "rubber hammer" you want ur title to looks like :

"Rubber hammer | Company" and not like "Welcome to the company Rubber hammer store that does every thing you need etc.. "

..If u competing for many kw's, use them in ur title as well... dont go over 60 chrcters.

    avoid "stop words"

    ;)

I just started using the "|" in between keywords in the title tag and it is working very effectivlely so far. At first I think it bumped me down to 6th page from 8th place on the 1st for a few days but I checked earlier and I was doing way better then I was last week. Cheers!

Your title tag can have up to 70 characters and should include the targeted keywords for that page of your site. You need to make it well written and not just a list of keywords.

Cairo | Pyramids of Giza Cairo

Egipt is way tougher kw and way hardr to beat on serps. If I were you, I would go for "Cairo and Pirmids of Giza" kwords..

Its matches ur headlines and ur websites text.

The TITLE tag should be kept between 60 - 90 characters in length. I've read many conflicting reports on TITLE length, but a good practical guide is Google. In search results, Google currently displays only approximately 65 characters of the title - some engines display more. Keeping this in mind, have the most important keywords at the beginning of your title.

    Sorry, I disagree...

Yes SERPs show a max of 65 caracters - SEs spiders validate 125 chars - more won't count for rankings - less will rise (postive) your KW density! The rest is a decision about your marketing strategy.

If you write a good title above 65 chars (...), it may cause curiousity among searchers and do something positive for your click through rate (personel experience) from searches.
