Title Tag Keyword Help Needed

Discussion in 'Keywords' started by Going Green, Dec 30, 2009.

My Title Tag currently contains the words:

    Nevada Renewable Energy Projects

I am wondering, would I rank higher in the SERPs if I changed it to just "Renewable Energy" as I want to rank well for both but the latter gets more searches.

    Thanks for your help! :)

I believe this tactics will work in case when you page rank is high enough to beat the competitors. Please note that each time you reduce the number of keywords in title - the number of competitors in the niche becomes higher.

It depends on how big the competition is for "Renewable energy"...if you think you can handle it (get more or at least the same no. of backlinks as your competitors, get a higher page rank, promote it better...) you should certainly go for this keyword. But you should "spy" on your competitors first...

yep if the keyword has less competitor, basic onpage and offpage SEO will bring you to the top

I think the opposite will happen, Nevada Renewable Energy Projects is a niche, while renewable energy is very broad, and you will face too many competitors from similar websites around the world.

That is where basic keyword research comes into play.;)
Hopefully when you did your keyword research, you picked Nevada Renewable Energy Projects because the number of monthly searches was good (high) and your competition was low.

A quick check shows your competition for Renewable Energy at 19,700,000.
Nevada Renewable Energy Projects is 40,000.

Stick with Nevada Renewable Energy Projects.

I think it works better if you change the title to, Renewable Energy: Nevada Renewable-Energy Projects.
In this way you give the exact phrase to spiders whats about the page that is the main keyword "Renewable Energy" then it follows with the Location "Nevada".

"Renewable Energy Nevada" even ranks better then "Nevada Renewable Energy Projects", under "Renewable Energy" keyword.

I have a site on renewable energy too and I would never use the keyword renewable energy. It is way to broad and it has a lot of competitors.

I agree with his suggestion. Change up your title so that your mail keyword can be found at the start. Be sure to use up all the space available. That is 70 characters of keyword targeting goodness available to you. Why only limit your title to 3 or 4 words?
