Title Tag Issue

    When i search my website on Google it shows title something which i do not have in title tag. when i run site command then it shows the right title tag in indexed pages. From where they are picking my Title? Please advice...Thanks

    Is your website listed in Dmoz directory, if yes then it might be taking title tag from that listing.

    you can remove the title from that listing by simply adding following meta tag.

    <meta name="robots" content="NOODP">

    If your searched keyword is listed in dmoz directory or you have used that keyword as H1 tag on your website, then Google shows that keyword as title of page. It doesn't have any bad effect.

    Can you put me to some instance where i can check this. I'm just wondering how google takes up title from dmoz rather than the website itself. ThankQ
