Hi all, I'm wondering if using repeated SPAN tags (eg, span class, span style) in html will help with seo? I also saw a good site using title tags in their href tags. Is this good for keyword optimization from SE's or is this considered spamming? Thanks
The span element does not help at all in SEO. It's used only for markup. The title attribute does not carry any significant weight and problably none at all. They're worthless when it comes to getting higher rankings, but can be useful for visitors if you provide a good description of the topic of the webpage that you link to.
Hi, As LawnchairLarry said, the SPAN element won't have any impact on your SEO. It's a semantically neutral inline element used to provide semantic meaning to inline spans of content. Such as <span class="warning">too much spam may be hazardous to your email inbox</span> for instance. As for the title "tag" there is a title tag, but it's not what you're thinking of. What you're referring to is actually called a title attribute, which can go on just about any element (or tag pair) contained within the body element. And as LawnchairLarry said, it's practically worthless from a pure SEO standpoint, but it's invaluable as a usability enhancement.
