Title Capitalization and SEO?

A few weeks back I launched a website to promote my writing. Basically myname.ca. With the website not even finished, I was blown away a week later when I googled my name (on google.ca) and found my site was the 5th result. That might not seem like a big deal but the fact that someone could actually stumble across my site by accident pleased me greatly. It showed up on the 4th page of results for Google.com and shortly advanced to the 3rd page.

Then this past weekend, after some minor page tweaks, GONE. I stopped looking for the site after page 10 I think. So let me tell you what changes I made to the page:

    1) I kept my page header text-based because I knew it was searchable. BUT I integrated it into a table with a page logo on the left.

    2) My page's title tag had been all caps. I decided that was unprofessional and I changed it to title caps with each 1st letter capitalized. Actually I did this change a day or 2 after the header.

To see if the capitalization made the difference, I immediately changed it back. Now a day later, my site is back on the 1st page of Google.ca, only one spot down from where it started.

Did the capitalization actually make a difference or is it just coincidence? Did my site lose its rank out of some temporary glitch? And just so you know, I wasn't "signed in" to google when I did these search tests.

The capitalization did not cause the affect.

Refreshing page content (putting new articles on, changing title tags and meta descriptions) is what gets google ranking (if done SE Optimally). When you hear/see the term "content is king" this is what it means.

I know original content is important, and I'm striving to provide it. But the actual content of the page didn't change during these few days so it's kinda mysterious.

Title Capitalization is not required only the first letter of Each word should be Capital.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't the capitalisation that caused the ranking change. Going by my past experiences it's just what new sites do, they seem to bounce around the rankings for a little while before finding their level & staying there.

I don't think that capitalization would have made impact in any case as it doesn't matter whether you kept the complete title or 1st letter capitalized. Google may have ranked you on the basis of your content quality.

I agree with cuteboy in that I do not think Google ranks your site more or less base on the capitalization of the title. I suppose they take that into consideration but it won't have as much weight as your content and its relevance to its target keywords. If your site is new (6 months or less old) then you can expect it to go in and out of the SERPs as search engines continue to determine the ranking of your site for its target keyword.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

I don't think it is missing from Google search because of that title capitalization. It might be just temporarily. while wait your site return, you can check the issue with Google webmaster tool. if you cant wait traffic from Google, you can just spread the link in your twitter account and promote how cool your new blog is

I don't think so that capitalization will effect seo.
