Title and <h1> the same.

Does google penalize your pages if you have the same title as h1 tag? I have that on quite a few pages. I also have a part of the title in the url.

    so it looks like this:

    url: http:// .... /keyword-with-description-info.html

    ...
    <title>keyword with description info</title>
    ...
    <h1>keyword with description info</h1>

These words describe exactly what the page is about, but i'm worried google sees this as some kind of keyword stuffing or spam. I'm not sure what else to type in the <h1> tags, the page is only about 1 subject.

I don't think if they penalize you but I would recommend you to have a little difference in them.

Yeah, why to penalize? I think they won't do this, but this could be better for your site keywords if you make it more vary.

You won't be penalize for this :)

However, is there a reason to make the title of a book (title tag) as same as one of the chapters (headers tag)?

Agree, there shouldn't be a penalty. Just don't stuff either one full of keywords.

its definitely perfectly fine. if u want to look at it this way: you are probably penalizing yourself more than G is, by limiting the number of keywords associated to your site. Nevertheless, if you really cannot find better words, then stick with it :)

I have been doing this too. Each page title is the article title, and the Article title is above each article content with an H1 tag.

    Google doesn't seem to mind
