Tips to help raise awareness for a friend's WP7 app idea!

    Hello everyone,

I'm a total noob regarding all things marketing, so I thought ask the pros! My friend has entered an idea for an Windows Phone 7 app into a contest officially sponsored by Windows. If he wins, his app idea will be turned into reality by a professional developer. Right now he is in second place with 5 days left. He came so far just with the help of word of mouth on twitter and his personal favorite forum. It seems though that he has reached the limits of people who can help him. I'm kind of on a personal crusade, because the first place app idea proposes basic Windows Media Center integration, which is so stupid because Media Center integration is already a standard in Windows 7 and will be in the Windows Phone 7 anyhow!

His app, in contrast, is very useful. It's a multi client manager for web 2.0 portals like twitter, FB and co. It would let you check on all your friends status update even if they are spread accross different portals and it would let you update your different accounts with one touch on your WP7 all at once, and that is just the very basic features. He put a ton of brain work into his presentation and needless to say it would save very social persons like us a ton of time!

Long story short, his opponent seems to have channels and resources at his disposal, which my friend can't match. Can you give me tips or links to boards with a lot of nice and understanding members, who might consider to support my friend even though they have nothing to gain from it? All forums I'm already a member on don't allow me to advertise his entry in the competition ( no registration required, no spam etc.just a simple click on a link once every 24 hours it takes only 2 seconds) without considering it spam and deleting it 2 seconds after I would have posted it!

All I can say is he would deserve it, he's the nicest guy I know and helps everyone around him anyway he can even though he's spread extremely thin between his job at Best Buy and being a student and I don't want to see him lose just because he can't afford a marketing campaign like the current top spot holder!

    Thank you very much,

    Max
