You're best resource for learning how to be Dugg, is to search Digg for topics about being Dugg. There have been so many articles already that have been Dugg that offer advice on having articles on Digg.

I remember there was an article on Digg that mathematically calculated the most successful action words in the title of Diggs. I think the word "Amazing" was the word most often found in Dugg titles. I tried searching Digg for that article but I cant find it...

Absolutely right. Do some research and see what people are going after nowadays. Bcoz people run after new things or interesting things.

2 Everyone: Here's the article Buga mentioned. I remember reading it too. It's a simple mathematical calculation, I don't think it's too accurate, but it's entertaining nonetheless :D

Ask your friends to digg the story but don't ask it on a "public" place, by e-mail or some instant messaging service is the best option.

If you think that some sites get dugg all the time because their artiles are good, think twice... http://digg.com/tech_news/AOL_busted_for_spamming_DIGG - the title isn't the best one but it serves as an example to show how big networks get dugg.

Okay, so you got a few visitors from digg.com but what did these visitors leave with - Did they buy your product or service or increase your income in some way?

    Probably neither of these.

Digg like most socialable sites are a waste of time and effort in my opinion :)

Getting constantly dugg = More traffic*
More traffic = Higher rate to sell links/ads
Higher rate to sell links/ads = Increase income

It depends of what you want from them, in my opinion :)

Even if it isn't a constant digg, the site is exposed for new visitors that can become constant visitors. It's just a matter of exposing your site to others and in socialable sites it's much easier to do it.

Sorry, but its "fake" traffic - not unique visitors who are looking for your service or product but visitors that click a link, read your content for 2 minutes and then leave.

I would never buy a link based on traffic - but on PageRank and other factors.

    1. Lets say that your site is a blog and they read the content for 2 minutes, if they enjoy it they will probably read other posts as well. If you're lucky enough they will come back later.

    2. In your blog you talk about using TLA to increase revenue, doesn't TLA take in account the traffic to decide how much is a link worth?

They use the Alexa ranking, which is generated on traffic, but only people who actually use that ugly toolbar. So yes, Digg can get you fake traffic to increase your Alexa ranking (if they are using the toolbar) which would increase your TLA rate when assessed.

If you have a blog then I would agree that they might be interested in coming back - but for sites that offer a service or product, then its waste of time digging IMO.

I mostly agree with you. From what I learned, Web 2.0 (Digg, Reddit, etc) traffic is typically not very useful in terms of selling your product/services. However, it can spread the word pretty good.

And yes, Alexa Rank is not a reliable measure of traffic. On the other hand, that's all we got (besides our own server logs.)

Forget all that. Here is what you really need:

To get 1-2 of the top 100 diggers (A-list members) to digg you, or better one of them to submit your story. No matter how crappy your story is, you'll be sure to get in.

This is what you NEED to do, I didn't say I know HOW to do it :D .

First know the WHAT than discover the HOW.
