Anyone can submit a "story" to digg. Getting others to "digg" that story is the hard part.

You just need to write something unique and news worthy. There isn't really a set method to it.

Getting a story on Digg isn't just writing a good article or having somthing useful, it's also about timing. My suggestion is to target the smaller categories as it's easier to get Dugg there. Getting Dugg on technology is very difficult.

Timing is almost everything. YOu need to have something worthy of being dug at a time when people are most interested in it.

I've found some Digg stats which shows that articles that went to the first page has long description and long title. I don't have a link, try to use search engines to find.

How about this: when you want people to digg you, digg a lot of stories as well. It may be a backlink to your profile if anything. You will also get your name recognized, and when a story comes out, they are more likely to digg someone they know and like than an unknown ...

To go to the top on Digg you need:

    1. an eye-catching title with catchy words. Try "amazing" and "revealed" for a start :D
    2. a compelling story people will want to read
    3. luck. pure and simple.

If you're writing a story yourself, you'll need good story-telling and sales skills. You gotta sell your story. Keep them interested once they click on the title. Make them read. It's all about human psychology.

    Good luck.

Another tip: when you realize a story just won't run ... please ... get the hint and move on!

I am starting to think that the time of the day also counts. If most diggers are American then submitting a story in the night won't give you much hits.

I don't have a statistic to confirm this. What do you ppl think?

Not only does it make sense, it's also confirmed by some of the stats I came by in the recent past.

True. From what I know, out of 10 good stories maybe one or two stand a decent chance -- and only if you do it right. This is the way the cookie crumbles.

So prepare to write at least 10 to raise your odds for success.

    Just my thoughts :D

Right, I am getting digg requests all the time. And none of them ever gone anywhere. Unless you have a good story, you're wasting your time.

I just posted a story on Digg for the first time last night and it's got 6 Diggs already - yay!:D

It was my first go and I got 15 unique visitors from doing so. I'll give it another go when I actually have my site all operational.

Good advice from the guys here.

    1. Catchy title
    2. Time of day in the US
    3. Good product offering
    4. ... and don't forget - Get your friend's to digg your story (that's what friends are for :p )
