    I Everyone,
I have a wholesale sporting goods site, and want to ad an affiliate store (No ecommerce) to the site, for retail shoppers.

I am somewhat new to affiliate publishing, so any advise would be appreciated.

I am just going to ad some catagorized pages with products to my site and list links and products I find through CJ, Befree, & Linkshare. as well as adsense.

Besides keeping ads relevent to site content, is there any advise you could give on making the site as friendly as possible for conversions?

Can you provide any links to info on creating affiilate stores with high conversions?

    Thanks
    Smokey

Affiliate sites are notorious for not getting indexed. The only remedy seems to add lots of unique content. So rather than just that Amazon book link for example, add your own review so there's some added value for Googlebot to eat and index. Don't just copy/paste advertiser code/links.

Actually the site and most pages are already well indexed, with great serps.
There is a good amount of unique content, but reviews are an excellent thought.
Allows me to get a few more keyword phrases in.

Should the products have a buy now button, or just redirect to the advertiser, for more info and to close the sale?

IMO it should be clear they're off to the real merchant. A link would work better IMO but that's not based on actual data; just from a user perspective.

If you're low on reviews, earlier this week I found a Yahoo API via which you can use their reviews database via a web service. you might want to check it out. But those are obviously not unique. Just a tool to add perceived value as oppose to real value.

Ya I think I am better to let people know they are going to a big, well known chain, they will feel more comfortable buying from.
Also the big chains are probably better at closing the deal, (I assume).

Do you have a link to hat API?

I read part of your blog on how the internet might change if icann changes control.
    Very interesting.
Hopefully it won't happen, but i guess over time some of these other countries will want more control,
    scarey thought
