Tips on how to market a blog

Hi,

I have a blog (it security one in my sig) and i was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to market it. I have started an adwords campaign advertising on related computer security type sites, but thats specific to the genre. What i need tips on is how you market a blog specifically.

Dread - there are lots of blog directories out there. But for me, one of the best and easiest things I've seen is pingomatic - everytime you update your blog, you can use this to let dozens of services know you have fresh content which can lead to tons of free traffic.

Yeah, try RSS and blog directories. You could also use reciprocal linking.

I also recommend adding in the bunny tags plugin for WordPress and tag each of your posts. Tagging will also help attract more users and will possibly lead them to link to your site if the content is good enough. I have a couple PR5/6 blogs, I get alot of my friends to link to me (I'm part of the Wordpress team in my spare time.)

 

Another good way is to simply write useful comments on other related blogs.

 

I agree. I do that quite often and it helps get the word out about my blog(s).
