you can assign channels to track the ctr. it's the ad title that should be in a bright color, not the ad link... because the ad title is optimally worded to attract attention... plus it's a bigger font size. you want people seeing the ad title first, not the ad link.
If you feel these tips have helped you out feel free to green rep! I've been sailing a bit close to the red line after making a few cheeky comments aimed at Cky47
Surely the text needs to be in keeping with whats on your site? Otherwise it's going to look a little out of place.
yeah, what i mean is if you have a niche site, lets say "hotels in cornwall" the price you get per click for that kwd is likely to be less than "hotels" more generally.
I tried the blue link title for about 4 days and my ctr dropped significantly. Maybe it depends on the audience. Not sure if statistically the test is valid...
I personally wouldn't go down the road of blue links. Not sure if it's just me, but they seem a bit old school. Also Would definately like to see more comments based on actual tests as golfhomeconnect suggested. Although this game is definately an art, we should still base our knowledge on factual evidence and work from there.
I know it's still early but I just wanted to add to my last post in this thread. I've gone back through almost all of my posts on my site (fortunately there's only 70-75 posts) and bolded keywords. In my last post I had posted that I was starting to get better ads. Today I looked at yesterday's and today's stats and I'm glad to see the better ads are translating into a better daily average CTR. Thanks for the tips!
GL Chachacallis! Let us know how you get on with them and give us the URL if you want to! Cheers :::Jamie:::
Sure content is important, but once you have got quality content you can use these tips to get the most out of your well written content!
about the color of links, as long as the links are in the same colors as your site links, you shld see a higher CTR. blue is because lots of sites have been blue for a long time.
I totally agree with this... Has anyone else found that the demographics (especially approximate age) of your readers has a big affect on click rates? I have one site that is of interest to a much "older" audience and get a pretty fair number of ad clicks.... I have another site that is generally of interest to a "younger" audience and find that they are much more "ad savvy" and almost deliberately don't click ads... I'm in on the "younger" side of a lot of my readers and I have to admit that I almost never, ever click on ads when I'm searching for information of interest to me...
I disagree. Younger people click ads, however the young are less profitable in terms of internet sales (they dont have credit cards), so CPC is bound to be much lower. You might make 50 cents a click off adult content (not porn), but only 5 cents off kids. Its just market forces.
I don't really blend Adsense although I do make the colors match my site. I ahve found that putting a unit under the navigation menu (assuming a vertical one) is normally best.
Not sure, i have read marketing studies that suggest that younger people are more "ad-blind" than older people.
i was wondering, u know for images u can have the alt=" ...." thing. u think that'll change the advertisement or make it advertise certain things?
