You can set it for 1 minute... or 30+ minutes. 10 is just the default. Click the box and then you can enter any amount of time you want.

I posted a simple message with no URL I only had 2 people reply to the message. On a normal day using a URL and posting to about 50 cities I can bring in 900 people and I usually get about 10 people that join.

I think trying to get people to reply to post may work better in some categories and not so good in others.

I would be extremely interested in such a book, and I believe I could find others interested in a book on the inner workings of Craigslist. Let me know please if you develop such a thing, and I would even volunteer to proof it for you if you would like.

I wouldn't think it would be too much work to have them email you first and then you send them your url. I think it adds some confidence to the person because now they know there is a real person behind this ad. If you can communicate with them, you might build a relationship and they will buy from you, visit your site, join your forum ,or whatever your objective may be.

Lets just, for the fun of it, say I have a site that sells affiliate auto parts...specifically one type of aftermarket customizing part, for one model of vehicle. Any suggestions how I could put together an ad that would not be booted from CraigsList, but still get people to my site so they could purchase my product?

Geeze.. maybe I'm just lucky. I always post urls in my ads, and allow no other way for people to contact me. Very seldom do my ads get flagged and deleted.

So you've mastered the art of spamming and completely violating the Craigslist terms of use? Congrats. You will be found and you will be banned.

You are only allowed to post 1 ad per topic in 1 city at a time and you are only allowed to repost any ad once every 48 hours. Anything more than that is a blatant violation of TOU.

It really just depends on the Category you are posting in. It seems if you post in the pets section they are on your like white on rice but if you post in the general section they really don't care.

More ways to spam and violate the TOU. Why not just figure out how to create such a great ad/product that you don't have to break the rules to make money from it?

Keep your ad unique. CL recently stepped up spam filters etc and its even more difficult but impossible. Some advice, spend time looking at ads that get through, you will eventually see a pattern.
