Anyone have any tips for starting an online entrepreneurial/marketing magazine? -Potential Pitfalls of the venture -How to compensate writers -Stiff competition I think an internet magazine sounds like a good idea, but at the same time, I just think of it as a collection of bloggers. Any thoughts? Robert M. Cavezza
i think best way to start off is using Wordpress and a Magazine like Theme like there are plenty of them around nowadyas. We do a adult magazine use the revolution themes, and after two years i can say hey we make some bucks around. probably the best way is having some co writers to start off, make sure to make decent appointments about payments, costs and so on. // Peter
If you want to make a mark with this, then you will have to offer something that is genuinely unique, useful, entertaining, etc to differentiate yourself from everyone else out there. As for compensating writers, you should start small. Hopefully you yourself can chip in a significant amount of the writing, and you should look for a few ambitious bloggers/writers who actually know what they're talking about and actually know how to write.
Its hard to monetize the digital form of magazine due to it nature of easily distribute that causing lose in revenue. In the same time, you need to fork out a lot of $$ to pay for the writer. You can make the profit sharing ratio with the writer such as if the magazine can sell for 1000 copy, then the writer get pay 10% of the total sales.
