It depends what You have to offer. Your best public can be on twitter or fb or tumblr, stumbleupon, instagram or periscope. You must know your audience, and then You'll know on which social media you should concentrate more. Try to be present on many social media. Fill the buffer for a month of posts and concentrate to the one you find your audience.

As far as SEO goes... get your keywords on keyword planner, research deeper into long tail keywords. Use semantic keywords... and keep your density lower(for every keyword on your list) than 1.5% if you are writing longer (like 2,000+ articles). If you are writing shorter than go around 1%
Put semantics into slug, use long title (indexes better than short title), don't make an article to inject keywords and semantics everywhere... Make a media rich content that answers questions that bothers people. Use Quora, yahoo answers and social media for that.

Try to find high searches under 5000 and if you are newbies you should find under 2000 or 1000 because these keywords can rank fast. but see competition. Searches should high but competition low. Many chances your blog keywords will rank fast. Well structure on-page can rank your keyword which have low competition. 100% unique article in your blog and well keyword density it should 1.5 to 2%. For example if you write an article for 500 words then density should 2% .
