I have already posted Tips to rank in Google,MSN ,Yahoo : There are four main keys to good Search Engine Optimization (SEO): 1. Title tags - every page needs a unique and descriptive title tag. 2. On-page content - every page needs unique, informative information that is easily read by spiders and humans alike. 3. Links - every site needs a system for building links. 4. Freshness of content - every site needs to keep their site regularly updated with fresh content that will bring humans and spiders back for more. I have found that may help your ranking on MSN and yahoo Search. • MSN and yahoo places very high emphasis on good coding • M & Y places high emphasis on keyword density • M & Y places high emphasis on the number of inbound links • M & Y places high emphasis on the page title • M & Y places high emphasis on headings • M & Yplaces high emphasis on when the content was last updated • M & Y places emphasis on the size of the website • M & Y places emphasis on meta tags About Google, Build quality links to your site pages from other well ranked sites on Google. Make sure you provide quality content that have something unique to offer and that have keywords or key phrases people might search to find your site in Google. Optimize you web site pages by making sure your top keywords appear in your title, meta tags and content. If you sell products, give something away free (The word "free" is one of the top most searched words on the internet). Keep a track of your listings/ranking in Google and analyze it periodically. Some google tips on this: Indexed Pages: To know which pages on your site are listed in the google and to see how they will appear to google searchers type site:wwwdotyourdomainnamedotextn in the google search box. Link Popularity: To keep a track of sites that link to you (and also see their google page rank), type link:wwwdotyourdomainnamedotextn in the google search box. Also, google gives some bonus points tothe sites which are listed in Dmoz and yahoo. Hope, all the above info is more than enough for a new SEO.
My website has been up for only 3 weeks, and no offpage optimization was made (not noticeble, just 100 backlinks detected) and I'm on the first page, 7th position for a keyphrase made out of 3 words. It's not the brightest SEO at all, but I agree that MSN loves ONPAGE optimization, and that's pretty much the most you need to do. (At least for a niche spot)
MSN simply loves blogspot.... try searching for the SEO contest keyword 'ituloy angsulong' and you'll see how much blogspot sites are pampered. The top 3 as of writing got only 4 inbound links and ranking high compared to some that even got 1000.
Well not sure why, but seems now (well... for me) I've wrote spam post with something like: "ball *keyword* whatever *keyword* lol *keyword*..." and I went to the top in google but down in msn
Try some SEO Tools like WebCEO .. it really helped for me There is a free version available.. does it's job well
Very good thread thanks.. MSN was great to me for a long time For certain keywords I was number one... But it seems like for some reason I dont even get on the radar now in the last few months..WHAT HAPPEND
Google has Blogspot. MSN has Windows Live Spaces. Perhaps start a few Window Live blogs and link it to your site?
MSN is the search engine that knows first when my websites have new content. It just loves fresh content and links coming from frequently updates blogs (again fresh content). Try to go with RSS feeds, might help to keep things ... fresh Regards
I agree with this 100% however, in the past 2-3 months this has not been the case for me... used to be I could give a new site a bunch of backlinks and it is top 10 quick.. now it seems a bit tougher....
